Life is too short to waste on trivial pursuits. This message challenges us to trade the empty promises of the American dream for a life fully surrendered to God, living each day for His glory and eternal purposes.

  1. When you think about the brevity of life, what helps you keep perspective on what really matters?
  1. The message contrasts “not wasting your life” with chasing the American dream. In what ways do you personally feel tempted to settle for trivial pursuits instead of living for God’s glory?
  2. The story of Ruby Elliason and Laura Edwards showed two women serving God faithfully into their 80s. How does their example challenge your own view of what a meaningful life looks like? How about challenge your view of retirement?
  3. One of the warnings in the message was about “good things becoming God things.” What are some “good things” in your own life that could easily become idols if you’re not careful?
